Amsterdam, 26 June 2017. HEMA recorded a 4.8% increase in net sales in Q1 FY17 compared with the same period of FY16. Like-for-like consumer sales were up 2.7% in Q1 FY17 and adjusted EBITDA* increased 11.4% to € 17.6 million. This is the ninth consecutive quarter of like-for-like consumer sales growth. HEMA’s results were driven by successful product range renewals, which resulted in higher sales in household goods & personal care products and apparel.
HEMA reports net sales of € 1,193.2 million in FY16, an increase of 4.7% compared to the previous year. This is the highest sales figure HEMA has ever reported. Adjusted EBITDA came in 26.5% higher at € 108.2 million. In Q4 FY16, HEMA recorded a net sales increase of 9.2% compared to the prior year period and group like-for-like consumer sales increased by 6.6%. This is the eighth consecutive quarter of group like-for-like consumer sales growth. HEMA’s full-year results were driven by successful range renewals, a strong Q4, higher online sales and international growth.
Amsterdam, 23 March 2017. HEMA has appointed Tico Schneider as Country Director Netherlands, with responsibility for the entire Dutch store organisation. The company has also appointed British national Adrian Porteous as Director of Logistics & Supply Chain. The two new directors will also join the HEMA management team.
Amsterdam, 9 January 2017. HEMA is launching a loyalty programme under the name ‘more HEMA’ for its customers in the Netherlands. The programme allows customers to use both a digital customer card in the updated HEMA app and a physical customer card to save up for extra discounts on HEMA products. Customers also receive a free cream slice on their birthday. The launch of the new card comes in response to demand for a loyalty programme among its loyal customers. Next year, the ‘more HEMA’ programme will also be made available to customers outside the Netherlands. HEMA’s ambition is to expand it into an international loyalty programme in all the countries in which the store chain is active.
